A busy weekend when “we came back home”

What a fabulous and a VERY busy weekend for the Games Maker Choir!

On Friday 22nd July the choir were to be found mingling and singing with some well-known Team GB athletes from London 2012, the Mayor of London and representatives of the organisations involved in creating (arguably) the “Greatest Show on Earth” ten years ago.

The morning was spent in the fabulous Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, such a great legacy from the  Games – enjoying some wonderful memories, and celebrating the official start of the Tenth Anniversary celebrations of the 2012 London Olympics & Paralympics.

There was an official lighting of the Anniversary Flame by the Mayor, and Sir Chris Hoy hosted some great entertainment to which we were very proud to contribute, along with our friends The PandemoniumDrummers, dancers and local schoolchildren.

Which songs did we sing?

“One Day Like This” (who remembers that from the London 2012 Closing Ceremony?) Plus, appropriately – “From now On”….. we are looking forward to the next ten years, after all!

The following day, these great anthems were repeated along with other favourites several times to appreciative audiences at different venues around the park – in blazing sunshine, during “The Great Get Together 2022” – a celebratory event with LOTS going on, all day. Phew!
