Marathon support for Special Olympics – 2.6 challenge style
It would have been the 2020 London Marathon today, and many from our choir would have been volunteering or even running in this world class event.
Sadly this was not to be, but members of the Games Maker Choir have risen to the event organiser’s Two Point Six Challenge and are raising funds for a very ‘special’ cause that is dear to their hearts, – Special OlympicsGB.
Several choir members were volunteers in Crans Montana, Switzerland earlier this year, supporting athletes in the Special Olympics GB National Alpine Skiing competition This spectacular and emotional event was the latest of several attended by our intrepid volunteers (and others from the choir) who had also helped out at The Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019 and previous UK Games too. All totally different venues, but all unforgettable experiences.
SO – This Sunday, Susy, Claire, Tracey, Jenny and Kerry (and some fellow Special Olympic volunteer friends) will be walking, running, cycling, dancing 2.6 miles each to try and raise £2600 for the Special OlympicsGB athletes.
No doubt there will be some raised voices (in song) while funds are raised for this very worthy cause, take a look at the smiles – and determination on their faces below!
