Choir performs anthems at Rugby World Cup 2015
The Games Maker Choir was invited to sing not once, but twice at Rugby World Cup 2015. Having returned for a sentimental visit to the Olympic stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the South Africa vs USA pool match, it was then on to the home of English rugby at Twickenham for the stirring N’kosi Sikilele and Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau as Wales faced the Springboks in a fiercely competitive match.
Having learned at least 7 anthems it was a privilege to perform two really great ones in front of a passionate audience and a pumped up set of players. We hope we did them proud.
“It’s quite something to wait on the pitch whilst the tension builds, and then the teams run on in front of you with the stadium roaring” said Victoria Verbi, who conducted at both events
” Trying to keep focus on your job and to concentrate on the music above the noise is quite a challenge”.
Another accomplished performance on the world sporting stage under our belts and some more amazing memories made. Wow!
