Sporting volunteers of all ages and singing abilities are very welcome!
Why not come along to a free “taster” session and see how you like it?
If you do decide to join us, the Joining Fee is just £10, with an annual membership, which equates to just £14 per month.
Our name, ‘The Games Maker Choir’ reflects that most members originally volunteered at the Olympic and/or Paralympic Games of London 2012 – or at subsequent Olympic or Paralympic Games. Recently, to paraphrase the choir’s signature song; Elbow’s “One Day Like This”, the decision was made to ‘throw those curtains wide’ and open the joining criteria to more singers – to include those who have volunteered at a wider range of large sporting events.
We have great fun and an ever growing repertoire, plus inspiring teachers and singing aides to help you along the way, so don’t be shy about getting in touch.
We generally rehearse on the first Saturday of each month in South London- a short walk or bus ride from Clapham Junction railway station, with members happily travelling from all over the country. The monthly rehearsals are sometimes supplemented by extra ‘regional’ or ‘sectional’ rehearsals prior to any live performances.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 the choir continued to rehearse online and support each other as one big family in many ways.
We are back to performing again at some iconic venues including recently at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and The Landmark Hotel in support of the Mariposa Trust for their fundraising Mapriposa Ball. And we are looking forward to celebrating our Tenth Anniversary with a celebratory concert in October 2022.
